In a significant meeting facilitated by CAA Court of Arbitration member Shilin Huang, Heiko Heppner, a distinguished Partner from Dentons Europe (Germany), visited the China Arbitration Association (CAA) to engage in a rich exchange of arbitration practices between Germany and Taiwan. This session, underscored by a spirit of international legal collaboration, was warmly hosted by Prof. Fuldien Li, the Honorary Chairman of CAA.

The gathering saw the participation of distinguished CAA arbitrators, Prof. Li Hwang and Prof. Carl Wu, alongside CAA Director Tiffanny Huang and Joyce Chen from the prestigious law firm Lee and Li.

Mr. Heppner, with his impressive credentials as a German lawyer, a New York attorney, and an English barrister, brought a wealth of experience to the table. His extensive background in international litigation and arbitration provided a unique perspective to the discussions. He enlightened the attendees with his insights on the practices of international investment arbitration in Germany and within the European Union. Key topics included recent rulings by the German Supreme Court and the European Court of Justice, along with a discourse on the ECJ's views on the interplay between EU law, international law, and the domestic laws of EU member states.

Adding to his legal prowess, Mr. Heppner currently presides as the President of the China Group at the German Arbitration Institute (DIS). His visit to CAA was also an opportune moment to express DIS's eagerness to explore potential cooperation with CAA, setting the stage for future engagements that could enhance arbitration practices across borders.
