Moot case practice

After a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the CAA Mediation Center successfully relaunched its Advanced Mediation Course on July 28 and 29, 2023. The redesigned course offered an in-depth introduction to the procedures of facilitative mediation and concentrated on refining mediation skills and strategies throughout various stages of the process. Participants engaged in hands-on learning through interactive instruction and moot case practice, enabling them to apply newly acquired techniques as mediators.

This course tackled complex topics such as joint mediation, mediator-proposed solutions, and ethical guidelines for mediators, sparking intensive dialogues among the attendees. The wide range of participants included legal professionals and specialists in mediation-related fields.

Feedback on the course was overwhelmingly positive, with many participants finding it invaluable for enhancing their mediation abilities. One attendee remarked, "The course greatly promote my mediation skills. The introduction to facilitative mediation and moot practice was particularly enlightening, helping me grasp how to steer conversations between parties effectively."

The revamped course comes at a critical moment, as the new Administrative Litigation system, which includes mediation initiated by judges, is set to commence on August 15, 2023. Additionally, the “Medical Accident Prevention and Dispute Resolution Act” will take effect at the beginning of the following year. These legislative changes underscore the growing significance of mediation procedures and related skills.

The CAA Mediation Center, being the only private mediation institution offering professional courses, is committed to fostering a learning and networking platform for individuals across various industries interested in enhancing their communication, negotiation, and mediation skills. The next series of Basic Mediation Courses will take place in September and October. For further details, please visit the CAA website.
