Seminar on Offshore Wind Power Financing and Arbitration
On May 24, 2019, CAA hosted a seminar chaired by CAA Director Mr. Fong-Fu Chen on “Offshore Wind Power Financing and Arbitration”. The seminar topics included offshore wind power financial policy in Taiwan by Director Chi-Ji Lin from Financial Supervisory Commission R.O.C (Taiwan), contractual structure in offshore wind power projects and case studies by CAA Director Ms. Tiffany Huang, and risk management and suggestions of bank credit on offshore wind power by Adjunct Professor Jing-Si Liang of National Chengchi University.

Taking part in the 2nd Straits Arbitration Forum in Pingtan
The 2nd Straits Arbitration Forum was held in Pingtan, Fujian on June 17, 2019. CAA and its arbitrators attended at the invitation by China International Economy and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC).
CAA attends the Forum on Cross-Strait Industrial and Commercial Cooperation
Invited by China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), Chinese Arbitration Association (CAA) attended the Forum on Cross-Strait Industrial and Commercial Cooperation held in Xiamen
on June 15, 2019.
Activities
Visiting Vietnam for Cooperation and ADR Promotion
CAA delegation led by Honorary Chairman Mr. Nigel N.T. Li, visited Vietnam during March 31 – April 4, 2019. The visit aimed to strengthen CAA’s cooperation with two arbitral institutions in Vietnam, as well as to assist Taiwanese companies based in Vietnam to use different methods of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) such as arbitration and mediation.
Cross-Strait Exchanges
In the final week of May, 2019, CAA delegates visited Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA),
Guangzhou Arbitration Commission and China Nansha International Arbitration Centre.

Advocacy in International Commercial Arbitration
CAA-SHIAC MoU – A Step Forward in Cooperation
CAA and the Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission / Shanghai International Arbitration Centre (SHIAC) have maintained close relations for years through visits and interactions. To further enhance cooperation with each other, both institutions decided to embody it in a Memorandum of Understanding (‘the MoU’).

On May 22 two representatives from Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), Kevin Nash (Deputy Registrar and Centre Director) and Qian Wu (Associate Counsel) visited CAA Taipei Office, with the company of Mr. Benjamin Hughes, an independent arbitrator. They were greeted by CAA Chairman Dr. Fuldien Li and Deputy Secretary-General Dr. Winnie Jo-Mei Ma.
SMU
On April 30, CAA received students from Singapore Management University (“SMU”), who were led by
Prof. Pasha Hsieh.
CAA Deputy Secretary-General, Dr. Winnie Jo-Mei Ma, gave a brief overview of international commercial arbitration together with career advice.
